Mad Polishing...
Published on December 16, 2004 By Mudflap In GalCiv Journals

Mad polishing... my elbow is sore.

The last couple of weeks have been taken up by polishing what we have so that Brad could show it to some people. We weren't too happy about that. The code was fragile and it looked like poop. But, we managed to pull together something halfway decent. Here's a shot for you...

Things to look for:

  • The planets now have colored halos to make them stand out more.

  • We've got more text on the main screen.

  • Check out the ship context area.

  • The minimap is being fleshed out.

  • The ships are now two tone. We're trying to allow users to customize their ship colors.

  • Some more temporary ship designs are in.

  • The planet Dester 1 has some overlay icons.

  • There's text on the main view.

  • The star background has been reworked. Check out the nebula.

  • The selection cursor is different.

There's also a bunch of stuff that I didn't show. We did so much it's hard to fit on one screen.

Simply awesome! I like the level of ship customization you guys are trying to put in. Its a small thing, but the ship color is great thing for me to be able to change. I can't wait until I can get my hands on the beta. Keep up the good work!

Yes.  Based on owner.

Excellent look to the screen. Is there any customization to what planet info can be displayed? Perhaps based on scanner levels?

to the grids for the ships though, since they don't seem particularly aligned to any sort of grid.
